Setup guide

A Mac. A client. One connection.

Set up the currently available Mac and Apple Vision Pro apps, then solve the right problem if they do not connect.

Before pairing

This guide is for the public Apple Vision Pro release. You need a Mac on macOS 26.0 or later with Peel Host 1.2, and an Apple Vision Pro on visionOS 26.1 or later with Peel Pro 1.4. Get both apps here.

Put the devices on the same unrestricted local network. Keep the Mac awake and the Host app running. If you are on a guest or managed network, ask its administrator whether devices are allowed to communicate with each other.

Connect the devices

  1. Open the Host disk image, install Peel Host on your Mac, and launch it.
  2. Allow the requested Mac permissions. Return to Host after making changes in System Settings.
  3. Open Peel Pro on Apple Vision Pro and choose the Mac you want to connect to.
  4. Use the pairing flow and the current PIN shown by Host. A code from an earlier session or a screenshot is not a substitute.
  5. After the connection is established, open a simple application on the Mac and select its available window in Peel Pro.

Peel Pro remembers a successful pairing. If a saved connection stops working, begin with the checks below before removing it and pairing again.

What each permission does

  • Local Network: lets the apps discover and connect to devices nearby.
  • Screen Recording: lets Host capture the Mac content you want to stream.
  • Accessibility: supports control of the Mac application from the client.

Use System Settings on the Mac to find the relevant permission if you previously declined it. A macOS prompt may ask you to reopen the application after a change. For the current Mac release, grant these permissions to the Peel Host app you intended to install.

Match the symptom

The Mac does not appear

Confirm Host is running, Local Network access is allowed, and both devices can communicate on the same network. Guest-network isolation can prevent discovery even when both devices have internet access. The current release does not promise automatic access across the internet.

The PIN is rejected or pairing does not finish

Use the current code displayed by Host and make sure you selected the intended Mac. Check that the Host and client versions are compatible. Reopen both apps and retry with a fresh pairing code if needed. Avoid repeatedly changing unrelated network settings.

I connect, but the view is blank

Confirm Screen Recording permission on the Mac, open the source app, and try another ordinary window. Some applications or protected content may not be capturable. Note whether a full display behaves differently from an individual app window when contacting support.

I can see the app, but input does not work

Check Accessibility permission on the Mac, then try a simple click or text entry in another application. The current client includes on-screen controls and keyboard support, but input behavior can differ across apps and connected accessories.

Still stuck?

Send support the versions and exact symptom, with a sanitized screenshot if useful. Hide the pairing PIN, private window titles, and project content. The release notes can help identify whether your versions match.
